Plumber Support Manager Chris Eppley

I grew up on the Virginia/North Carolina border. As a teenager and young adult, I frequently took advantage of surfing the waves of our local beaches in both Virginia and NE North Carolina aka “The Outer Banks.”
Now, I am the Rheem® Plumber Support Manager for North Carolina and South Carolina.

Q: Why did you get into plumbing?
A: I decided early on in high school that college was not the route I wanted to pursue. I looked at different options and compared salaries, and I took into account that my grandfather and his father were both plumbers. I decided to move forward with the plumbing trade and have never regretted the decision I made.

Q: What do you like most about being a plumber?
A: The things I enjoyed most about being a plumber are getting to meet new people and solving their plumbing issues. I also love the fact that my office was mobile! I am described as being very sociable and the interaction with customers was very satisfying.

Q: What do you like most about your role at Rheem?
A: Helping our plumbers learn about our water heating products and helping them grow their companies is an amazing opportunity for me. I am always open to helping new small companies figure out how they can best benefit from using our products and services that Rheem offers its partners.

Q: What was your favorite memory of a time you helped your customers?
A: I went to a drain service call, and the home owner was complaining that a bathroom sink would not drain. I pulled a sink trap and found my customer’s engagement ring. This ring was given to her 40 years earlier and her husband had recently passed away. I will never forget when I handed her the ring she immediately hugged me and told me the story of her husband and how the ring was lost 10 years earlier!
Q: What was one of your proudest moments as a plumber?
A: My proudest moment as a plumber was the day I opened up my own plumbing company. I made the decision due to having a wife that worked nights and four kids at home. Being able to work my own desired schedule would be the best fit for our family. I can truly say I was very blessed. My youngest children are now not far from being adults.
