Dillon Looks to Secure A Win In Final Start For GMS Racing

Austin Dillon returns to GMS Racing and the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet when the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) visits New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) for the UNOH 175. Dillon looks to pick up his first victory at “The Magic Mile” in Saturday’s 175-lap event.

The 2011 NCWTS Champion has three starts at NHMS in the Truck Series, including two top-five finishes. Dillon’s most recent NCWTS start at the 1.058-mile track came in September 2011, when he finished second after leading five laps and running in the top five for the entire race. Along with his NCWTS starts, the 25-year-old driver is credited with four starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series where he’s captured three top-five finishes, including a runner-up finish earlier this season, and three NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts with a best finish of eighth, also recorded earlier this season.

NHMS marks Dillon’s third and final NCWTS start with GMS Racing in 2015. The Welcome, N.C., native piloted the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet at Michigan International Speedway and Pocono (Pa.) Raceway in August. Dillon picked up fifth-place finishes in both races.

Dillon will pilot chassis No. 024 at NHMS. This particular Chevrolet was driven by Dillon’s GMS Racing teammate Brandon Jones at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and Gateway (Ill.) Motorsports Park earlier in the season, resulting in top-15 finishes in each event.

Is qualifying really the key at a place like New Hampshire Motor Speedway?
Qualifying is definitely a big part of it, but there is a lot of strategy that plays into it as far as long fuel runs and being there at the end. We’ve seen guys who haven’t been running at the front all race long be able to run at the front towards the end of the race at New Hampshire, so it’s an interesting place. You never know, it might be a place for our Rheem team to get our first win together. – Austin Dillon
