Austin Dillon Prepares For Competition at Dover

September 29, 2015

NASCAR XFINITY Series – Hisense 200
October 3, 2015 – Dover International Speedway – Dover, DE

Austin Dillon will pilot Chassis No. 159 in the Hisense 200 at Dover International Speedway. This Richard Childress Racing-prepared Chevrolet last saw track action with Paul Menard at Darlington Raceway earlier this month where he started fifth and finished 25th.

The Welcome, N.C., native has made five NASCAR XFINITY Series starts at the one-mile track, collecting one top-five and five top-10 finishes. Dillon is credited with one pole award, an average starting position of 6.4 and average finishing position of 6.8 with 60 laps led.

So far this season, the No. 33 team has accumulated some impressive stats with Dillon, Paul Menard and Brandon Jones behind the wheel. In 27 races, the RCR team has garnered four wins, five pole awards, 14 top-five and 20 top-10 finishes with 453 laps led.

Last weekend’s XFINITY Series race was a standalone event in Kentucky, so Dillon took the opportunity to pilot the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Silverado for GMS Racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Dillon started from the pole position and led for a total of 80 laps en route to Victory Lane in the 500th Camping World Truck Series race. Saturday’s win in New Hampshire marked Dillon’s seventh career Camping World Truck Series victory and 12th win across the top-three NASCAR series.

According to NASCAR’s Loop Data Statistics, Dillon holds some notable stats in the 2015 season. The 25-year-old driver ranks first in the following categories: drivers fastest early in a run, drivers fastest late in a run, fastest driver on restarts and green-flag speed. Dillon is second amongst his competitors in fastest laps run (306 laps). He also ranks third in closers and fourth in laps led (413 laps) and mile leaders.

So far this season, Dillon has been entered in 14 XFINITY Series events, collecting three victories, 10 top-five finishes, 12 top-10 finishes and five pole awards. Dillon has led a total of 413 laps with an average starting position of 4.6 coupled with an average finishing position of 7.1.

Following this weekend’s 200-lap event at Dover International Raceway, Dillon is scheduled to compete in the No. 33 Chevrolet for the remaining five XFINITY Series races this season.

What can you take away from racing here in the spring to use this weekend at Dover International Speedway?
Dover is one of those places that can change every time you go there. The biggest thing is if you have a car you can drive hard, you’re going to be successful. It’s kind of a physical track, but I enjoy going there. It’s going to be fun. – Austin Dillon
