Instantly Improve a Home’s Energy-Efficiency with the New Active Solar Water Heating System and Receive a 30 Percent Federal Tax Credit
Rheem brings the sun 93 million miles closer to home with SolPak, the company’s first all-inclusive active solar water heating system. Installing a dependable Rheem solar water heating system is a smart choice for any eco-conscious homeowner and leads to lowered utility bills, protection from rising energy prices and reliable water heating in any climate. Additionally, SolPak quickly pays for itself, thanks to a new Federal tax credit of up to 30 percent of the installed cost.
“Rheem has been able to leverage over 80 years of water heating expertise to bring homeowners a solar water heater that can dependably provide hot water in virtually every area of the country,” said Jeff Mahoney, alternative energy market manager for Rheem. “This is welcome news to homeowners, as solar water heating systems can lower a home’s water heating bills by as much as 80 percent.”
Nicknamed “solar in a box,” Rheem SolPak makes installation a snap by coming equipped with all the components needed to complete the installation. Rheem SolPak comes complete with a heat exchanger tank, collector panels, a controller, multi-speed pump, thermal expansion tank and other essential items.
Since the advent of the Federal Stimulus Plan in February, Solar water heaters are within the financial reach of more homeowners. Additionally, many local utilities and governments are offering additional incentives in addition to the Federal tax credit. Homeowners can visit dsireusa.org to find local incentives in their area.
SolPak is an active solar water heating system, meaning that it uses a circulating pump to transfer water through the system. Due to the circulating pump, active systems do not use roof-mounted tanks unlike passive solar water heating systems, which rely on natural methods to circulate water through the system. Active solar water heaters account for 90 percent of the US solar-thermal market because this visually-pleasing compatible configuration complies with most homeowner association-governed neighborhood covenants.
SolPak uses roof mounted Solar Rating and Certification Committee certified collection panels designed to for aesthetic design conformity. The heat exchanger tank, circulating pump and controller are located in the home, typically in a utility room, garage or basement. Sensor wires measure the temperature at various points in the system and activate the pump to circulate the heated fluid from the collectors down to the tank and back until water is heated to the desired temperature.
Rheem SolPak is covered by a six-year limited tank warranty, 10-year limited collector warranty and a two-year limited pump and control warranty. Consumers interested in SolPak should check with their local Rheem representative for availability.
