Paul Menard Looks Forward to Phoenix International Speedway

November 5, 2013

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series – AdvoCare 500
November 10, 2013 – Phoenix International Speedway
Paul Menard, No. 27

Paul Menard will pilot chassis No. 434 at Phoenix International Raceway this weekend. This No. 27 Chevrolet SS previously ran at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in September. Menard has 13 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at the one-mile oval. His best start of seventh came in both 2009 and 2012, and his best finish of ninth came in both 2011 and 2012. The Wisconsin native has completed 4,111 of 4,134 laps attempted (99.4 percent) at the Avondale, Ariz., track. In last year’s AdvoCare 500, Menard started the No. 27 Chevrolet from the seventh position and brought home a top-10 finish, crossing the stripe in ninth.

I like going to Phoenix International Raceway, especially since the track surface is beginning to age. It aged from last fall to the spring race, and I’m sure the hot 100 degree plus temperatures this summer have aged it even more. The older the track gets, the racier the cars get. I like short-track racing and Phoenix is a fun little one-mile track that has the potential to produce some exciting racing. We ran really well there last fall, so hopefully we’ll be able to build upon that and get another top-10 finish in our Rheem/Menards Chevrolet this weekend. – Paul Menard
