Bell Looking for Fast Car Again at Brickyard

July 3, 2020

RACE INFO: The Big Machine Hand Sanitizer 400 Powered by Big Machine Records at Indianapolis Motor Speedway begins at 4:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 5, 2020. The race will be broadcast live on NBC, Sirius XM 90, and IMS Radio.

Christopher Bell – No. 95 Rheem Toyota Camry Preview Big Machine Hand Sanitizer 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

“Indianapolis is a place that has a ton of history and I’m excited to get the opportunity to compete in my first Brickyard. Hopefully we can capitalize on the speed that this LFR group has been bringing to the track and get a good finish this weekend.”

Indianapolis Motor Speedway: Christopher Bell will make his first NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) this weekend in the No. 95 Rheem Toyota Camry for Leavine Family Racing. Bell has made two prior starts at the famed 2.5-mile track in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS).

Bell NXS at Indy: In 2018 rain delayed the race until Monday. Bell started seventh since qualifying was also rained out and ran consistently in the top five, but a tight handling condition late in the race left him with a seventh-place finish. In 2019, Bell qualified third and was battling for the lead late in the final stage when contact sent him into the wall and ended his race early.

Fun Fact: The first laps Bell made around IMS in the Xfinity Series were also without any practice or qualifying, like he will experience on Sunday for his first NCS start at Indy. Bell made his first NXS start at Indy in 2018, the year rain washed out all on-track activity on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, leading to a doubleheader for the NXS and NCS series on Monday.

Pocono Doubleheader Recap: Christopher Bell earned his first top-five finish in the NASCAR Cup Series with his fourth-place finish in the Saturday race at Pocono. Bell started 36th based on random draw and with a fast No. 95 Rheem Camry he was able to capitalize on pit strategy to finish fourth. On Sunday, Bell started 17th and had a fast Toyota, but during stage two the rear end came around on him exiting the Tunnel Turn and ended his day.

Christopher Bell: “Indianapolis is a place that has a ton of history and I’m excited to get the opportunity to compete in my first Brickyard. Hopefully we can capitalize on the speed that this LFR group has been bringing to the track and get a good finish this weekend.”
